Recognition of the chord lines
The Chord Transposer recognizes lines as chord lines if they consist of more than 50% of these elements: C D E F G A H B b # m M sus add min dim aug Δ ° − + maj 2 4 5 7 9 11 13 ( )
For transposing to work without errors, there must be at least 2 spaces between two chords.
If many chords have to be placed with few lyrics due to a fast chord progression,
enough space must be created in the lyrics line below to place the chords with the required minimum distance of 2 spaces.
Sharp and flat chords
Sharp (#) and flat (b) chords can appear in the same piece of music, especially in the following cases:
- When using modular transitions (key changes).
- When employing chromatic chord progressions.
- When the harmonic minor scale or other scales containing both sharps and flats are used.
- In modern music genres such as jazz, rock, and pop.
The Chord Transposer works like this: When transposing downwards, flat chords are used. When transposing upwards, sharp chords are used.
However: Chords that originally have an accidental (sharp or flat) retain their accidental if the transposition step requires it.
